The kitchen is considered as the royalty of home. It’s the busiest place in the home. Need a snack break during studies, head to the kitchen. Want to have a meal, go to the kitchen. Thirsty? Get to the kitchen. Hungry? Kitchen!
In fact, the answer to most of our questions is “Kitchen”.
Considering the high place of the majesty, it’s important to keep the kitchen spruced and adorned all the time. Itchen is also responsible for the health and hygiene of the inhabitants so its maintenance requires some extra care. Materials like wood and cardboard can attract termites and other such insects. While iron and steel can become rusty. So it’s best not to use them in kitchens. Glass has come to the rescue in kitchen enhancement. How? We’ll see in this discussion.
Let’s explore how we can use glass to enhance the home.
1. Employ Glass in Cabinets
Kitchen cabinetry is a whole industry due to its high demand. Each kitchen has cabinets to store the kitchenware, crockery, collectibles, and groceries.
Cabinets constitute a huge part of the kitchen. Homely kitchen cabinetry can unapologetically bring down the whole interior. So make sure to put some effort into it. Wooden cabinets are mostly installed in the kitchens. However, some other materials like hardboard, plywood, and fiberboards are also in use.
But rigid all-wood cabinets serve as the eyesore. You can give the wooden cabinets a contemporary look and feel by incorporating glass doors in the cabinets. The clear glass opens up the view and gives an elaborate view of your pretty collectibles and chinaware. You can easily get glass panels cut to size for your kitchen cabinet doors or just incorporate clear acrylic sheets.
However, if you are not a fan of clear glass cabinet doors, you can go for frosted, textured, or decorative custom glass for your cabinets. You can also go for reflective glass cabinet doors and get some functional mirrors in your kitchen. It’s just like having custom-size mirrors in the kitchen.
You can make your cabinet’s backlit to elevate the kitchen aesthetics even more. The LED lights lighting up your kitchenware and the glass cabinet doors giving a sneak peek into your valuables create a wow factor in the kitchen interior.
2. Install Glass Shelves
No matter how many cabinets you have and storage compartments you own, the kitchen storage always falls short. Despite all your efforts to conceal the kitchen essentials, some of them still are on the countertop. If the kitchen essentials have to be on display, why not do it with style?!
Install floating glass shelves to hold your spices and condiments. The clear acrylic sheet or glass shelves enhance the storage in the most contemporary way there is. Unlike other shelves that break the sight with their rigid surfaces, the glass shelves open up the view and give a futuristic look and feel to the kitchen. Now you can conceal the kitchen essentials in the cabinets or just put them on display with style.
3. Flaunt the Glass Countertops
Countertops have always been a part of the kitchen interior. Be it a traditional kitchen or a modern one, countertops are everywhere. However, from marble tops to glass tops, the countertop designs have evolved big time. Glass countertops are a fairly new concept and are taking over the contemporary interior market rapidly.
Glass tops give a minimalistic and elegant look to the kitchen. The smooth and shiny surface lends a luxe look to the kitchen. You can choose textured, clear, or tinted custom glass countertops to go with your kitchen design aesthetics. The clear glass tops are easy to maintain and clean. They are highly durable as well. All these benefits render glass countertops the perfect pick for the kitchen interior.
4. Go for Kitchen Backsplash
Glass has made its way into the modern interior due to its elegance and class. It has now come a long way from its conventional uses. The tile backsplash is one such example. From being used as a countertop and cabinetry, glass is now used on the walls as well. The glass kitchen backsplash gives a shiny and sleek look to the interior. The kitchen backsplash comes in different colors, designs, and styles to enhance the kitchen aesthetics. You can also get your desired glass panels cut to size for the kitchen backsplash. It gives a clean and polished look to the kitchen and brings a posh feeling to it.
5. Hang a Mirror!
Yes, you heard it right!
The kitchen is the least expected place to hang a mirror. We hang mirrors all over the home but not in our kitchens. Well, this trend is going to end. The contemporary designs recommend bringing the magic of mirrors to the kitchen as well. Get a custom size mirror and hang it in the kitchen. It will not only elevate the kitchen aesthetics but also help you get a look at yourself while working in the kitchen (which most probably won’t be a great one. But, on the bright side, you can at least fix yourself a bit.)
Get to Work Now!
Keeping the kitchen clean and shiny is a hard job. Especially with all the wooden cabinets and marble countertops around. Replace them with the easy-to-maintain glass items and see your kitchen radiate an exceptional brilliance!

Glass countertops were the trends I liked reading the most from your article. Bringing in a sleek look to our kitchen is something I’ve always wanted to do, but could never decide on which material could best do that. As soon as I find a kitchen renovation expert in the area, I’ll definitely have them incorporate glass countertops wherever they can.
I really liked the ideas from this page especially the floating glass shelves to display my cooking essentials stylishly. I’m looking into this since I move into a new apartment and want to improve the space. I’d probably consider a full-on renovation.
